Lorna Evans inspires on stage at Salon Melbourne
It was an action-packed weekend for Lorna Evans Education.
Sunday started with a 4.45am call time for Lorna and her backstage styling team that came from far and wide – Perth, Queensland, Sydney, Canberra, Horsham, and, of course, Melbourne.
Lorna said: “The response I got from stylists to be a part of this exciting event was overwhelming and we all had a fantastic time together.
“Like all backstage shows, there was a little madness – with power outs that ran us a little late – but I can honestly say I was most proud of the fact that every single person in the backstage room did what was needed to get the Bridal Show onstage by 9.30am.”
The Bridal Show was joined by make-up artist to the stars, Becca Gilmartin, and between them they created six breathtaking bridal hair and makeup finishes. Models were dressed by Luci Dibella, Angela Marcuccio and Dannie Bridal and the hair was dressed with jewellery from Stephanie Browne, enhanced with flowers by Good Grace and Humour – every single detail for the six brides was considered.
From the seminar room at 11.30am, it was straight off to the main stage to showcase five different models. Lorna was joined by two of Zumay salon’s stylists – Amber White and Beth Dunning – and throughout the 20 minute presentation, she and her team shared tips and tricks on styling.
In addition to the importance of stylists staying inspired, Lorna said: “If YOU are inspired, your clients will be inspired and together, this is by far the best way to grow a business – by never letting your clients, or yourself, become bored.”
Lorna and her team repeated the same show on the Monday.
This was the second year that Lorna Evans Education has taken a stand at the Expo and from the very start of the day until the last minute, there was someone on the stand demonstrating long hair styling and answering questions.
Lorna added: “Education is the key to success. I am a bit of a stats girl and love the figures the core of learning gives us.
“If you see something undertaken as a demonstration, within two weeks you are likely to retain 30%. If you attend a hands-on workshop and simulate the real thing, you are likely to retain 90%!
“So seeing exciting things at an Expo is to inspire and to attend a class is all about being guaranteed to have the skills to grow your business.”
